    sorry for the late response…
You can do this now…if you “Publish to 3DVIA” from 3DVIA Composer…your models will be available to be seen in 3DVIA mobile if:
    - The 3D model is “Public”
    - The 3D model is less than 40,000 triangles for the iPhone 3G, or 100,000 triangles for the iPhone 3GS

I created a video of how to do that here: http://3dvia.tv/3dvia-product-success/

    - Only one layer (or 3D model) per photo, however, there is a workaround: If you combine two 3D models using 3DVIA Shape, you can then add them both in a photo.
    - Unfortunately, you cannot pick from your existing photo library, as calculations need to be made during the picture taking process.

The new version is now out! You can download from your iPhone, or click here: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/

  9. I think it’s great cant wait for the updated version :)

  10. Can you do 2 layers on one photo? Can you pick an existing photo from your iPhoto library, or just from the collage library? Can You export existing photos from your iPhoto Library to the collage library?

I would like to see this app use more of the 3DVia Composer published content to view on the mobile device. Do you have a time frame when that will be available.

Why… Why why why why why do you do this to yourself?!
Come on why make a specific application for iPhone that mimic already existing apps made with 3DVIA Virtools, when you could have made a Virtools player?! You’d have the model viewer, the 3D collage, and all the great apps made with Virtools for the last 5 years…

I understand your concerns, however I would like to share with you some thoughts:
      - 3DVIA Mobile is indeed an application that have been specifically designed and developed for iPhone. Nevertheless, we USE some parts of our existing technologies (can’t go more in details but anyway all I can say is it’s related to Virtools :-) …)
      - Developing such application is not incompatible with porting our existing middlewares on iPhone in the meantime. More, it paves the way for more long-term developments and makes us learn fast about iPhone Development and its economic market.
      - Your vision is from a developer’s point of view (“Instead of re-inventing the wheel you should leverage existing technology”). But it’s not that simple:
First of all, many 3DVIA Mobile’s features are specific to iPhone. Multi-touch introduces a new paradigm that must be addressed carefully and attempting to make a simple port of user input code from a desktop techno is not apropriate.
Collage on iPhone is very different from the one provided by 3DVIA on PC : we use built-in iPhone sensors to avoid user-assisted camera calibration. Then, it’s a brand new development, tailored for iPhone.

Secondly, Time to market is crucial if we want to be successful and test some innovative ideas. From the customer’s point of view, what is recommended ?, having the app ready to use NOW or wait for a complete port of existing infrastructure ?
IMO, I really think users don’t care about the engine behind the app. They care about services brought by it.

      3DVIA Mobile’s purpose is :
      - to be fun: you can make some hilarious collages :-)
      - to connect people together and share 3D creations. You can see thousands of models created by our contributors.
      - useful: 3DVIA Mobile can be used like a digital portfolio for travelling 3D Artists. They just have to create a 3DVIA user account, post their models, mark them as private if they not want to share them but still show them with their iPhone.

      Regards.
      Gerald.
